Census rehearsal

To help with our planning for Scotland’s Census 2021, we will hold a rehearsal that lets us test the systems and processes we will use in 2021.

The census rehearsal is on Sunday 13 October, 2019.

Parts of the following areas of Scotland will take part in the rehearsal:

  • Dumfries and Galloway
  • Glasgow City
  • Na h-Eileanan Siar

If you live in one of the rehearsal areas, we will write to you and ask you to take part.

The rehearsal will only count people who live in households.

Places like halls of residence and care homes are not included but will be counted in the full census in 2021.

We will keep all information we collect as part of the census rehearsal confidential and destroy it within five years. You can read more about how we keep your information secure.

If you do not want to take part, you do not have to. However, taking part will help us to plan for 2021.
