Privacy while using census.gov.scot
You do not need to give us any personal information while using this website until you start the questionnaire. If you use our contact form, we will ask you for an email address so we can get back to you.
When you use this website, we collect web analytics information to help us provide an effective service. We also collect technical information to make sure this website is secure and working properly.
If you give us any personal information so we can help you with a question about the census or our services, we will:
- keep this information secure
- keep it separate from other information you provide in the census
We will delete this information once the census closes. It will not form part of your personal or household census record.
We will delete web analytics data once we have produced the census outputs. We expect this to be no longer than five years after collection.
Webchat
You do not need to give us any personal information when using our webchat. We will use you IP address to connect with our contact centre adviser. However, we will not store this or use it for anything else.
Any additional information you do give us will be used only for the purposes of dealing with your query and ensuring the safety and security of our systems.
We will not keep it or link it with your census return.
