In order to meet our responsibilities to provide an effective service we will collect web analytics information.

This will be used along with some census return data to ensure that census questions are presented in the most appropriate way.

We do collect technical information to ensure the performance and security of this website.

If you provide us with any personal data to help us assist you with a question about the census or our services, National Records of Scotland will:

  • keep this information secure
  • keep it separate from other information you provide in the census rehearsal

We will delete this information once the census rehearsal closes. It will not form part of your personal or household census rehearsal return. 

Web analytics data will be deleted once the Scottish parliamentary process for census legislation is concluded. We expect this to be no longer than 15 months after collection.
